Slax income report - December 2012

When I first started to work on Slax many years ago, my goal was never to make money from it - I just wanted to learn something about Linux and share that with others. However, it turned out that if a project makes some money then it can grow much more rapidly and it can be, as a result, even more useful.

Slax didn't make any significant revenue in the past. It was maybe due to the fact it wasn't marketed properly, or maybe because it didn't offer anything to spend the money on. With Slax 7, I decided to change that. You could already see that at the main page, where you can find a form to order Slax on a cool USB flash drive; many of you received the device already. I'd like to thank to all buyers once more again for their support.

Each drive sold brings profit to Slax, which in turn makes me spend more time on it, which in turn makes Slax better :) I'm very happy to report that Slax project has generated, for the fist time in the history, an income significant enough to mention it. By selling the USB drives, Slax made $4079 in December 2012. That is just the income before deducting the costs, so final profit will be of course lower.

In the near future, there will be more ways how to spend money on Slax :) and there will be even ways how to earn money on Slax. This all is possible only thanks to you, Slax users. Thank you!

Awesome! Congratz on earning some pretty good funding for the project! I already have more thumb drives than I know what to do with, but I am super impressed with Slax and I would love to contribute to its success. Perhaps you could put one of those Paypal donation buttons somewhere?

...until then, I will just have to get some build scripts put together for modules that I need (partition manager anyone?)... =)

It is probably not the best place to ask, but would it be possible for you to set up an RSS feed on what modules are added to the Modules section?

I'm unsure how to make a feed with only "new" modules. I can make a feed with, say, 50 top recent modules.

Glad to hear you're making some money from your project. Congrats and keep the great work you do.

I use Slax since 2011, not so frequently but i use it. It helped me a lot when my hard drive died. For that i thank you very much.

BTW i'm a Linux user, not advanced but i'm learning the Linux ways ;P. I use openSUSE and Slax, both reliable, useful and stable.

December is the villain in both places!

about the modules page
can we get the "read more" link of the particular module as in old slax page
so we can see the details of the modules the dependency and link for it so we can directly go to the dependency module easily.
Instead I have to search the module name one by one.
