Hi all,
It would be good to have a list of users repositories, NOT the temporary url. Can you give here your url repository and I will update this list. Thanks!
alisou, :)
WARNING: The use of these modules is at your own risk. None of them is an official Slax repository.
Why all slax users copy all madules in unique repository ?
An example may be gmail with gspace.
Are you agree ?
We can decide where together . No ?
A lot of people had good ideas to put modules on internet, but we need a unique place to put lzms.
Slax is the first place. We aim to create another to put Slax modules plus ours.
Isn't right ?
alex.slax > I think that the idea here is that there is :
- an official repository, checked by Thomas, filled with modules provided by the Slax community
- unofficial repositories, that are NOT checked by Thomas
This way, people that only want to use official modules can use the official repositories, and others can use unofficial modules at their own risk.
I also have to agree.
An area on slax that was easily accessable with untested modules would help.
If it is done as a post in the forum, it should be made a sticky.
When one reads a message that says a lot of modules have been uploaded to the SLAX modules page and you click on modules, all you can find is one game. The rest look empty.
I uploaded a module to the modules page and it had a nice info screen that stated the module was untested and to download at your own risk.
When I returned later to the modules page, it had dissapeared.
So an accessable area in the modules section for untested modules is a must.
With all the modules uploaded and the testing of all of them, it coould be months before a module is tested and added!
So yes, lets push for putting them in as accessable with the disclaimer you see when you upload a module!
I will add your PHP module to my page today if that is ok as a link to the UnVerified Modules. Is that OK? Granted, Slax should have this option on the main modules page, I agree. My page is here:

One person checking the modules is not optimal. This is just my opinion. It might be a cool idea to have 2 module pages - one tested and the other not.
Hi guys, please note that I have a commercial server that I am sharing space on and you can upload / download modules there. Also note that you can upload to the official site, they just won't show up on the main modules screen until they are made official. Check out my repository:
I've written a small script to auto download all the pending modules from the official Slax modules repository. There are actually more than 392 modules (399 last count) and some of them are removed (so even though there are 399 ids, not all of them are pages to download modules, id=7 and id=8 are two). I've set up a cronjob to run my scripts every Sunday at midnight, so the list and files will be updated. You can browse here :

markds > The modules that you're mirroring aren't really official : even if they're in official directory, Thomas didn't check them. (Am I wrong ?)
So you shouldn't give them as 'official', in my opinion.
Thats true, I should name them Official Unverified Modules. Will change later.

But doesn't that mean that a user looking for a module has to traverse all of the users profiles to see if one is available? And how does a user find the profile pages? The only way I have found is to click on the name of the person posting to get to their profile page. But there are a great many more people that have no modules then do. I can see no way that a user on the forum, or elsewhere, can determine if another user has a profile page with modules.
I think having an unofficial module page with a check box to inform others that it works or does not work for you. Then display these numbers along with the module and people can make an informed decision if they want to try the module ( something like a poll on a forum that only allows voting once ). For example if a module has 200 hits for it works and 10 for it didn't work it might work for me. But on the other hand if it has 200 doesn't work and no hits for works I know I don't need to waste my time. This system will also speed up the transition to official for each module. Thomas wouldn't you rather only check modules that 100 people already says that it works?
