Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that has, since 1992, provided file and print services to all manner of SMB/CIFS clients, including the numerous versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
This is the full edition from Slackware rep. Slax uses a stripped version which only includes the client. That means you can access others share on the Windows network, but you cannot share anything. If you want to share, you will need this.
You will also need this, if you run Qemu with smb-share between host and guest
