I have an issue to report, i do not know if it is specific to my install or if anybody else has encountered it.

Network Manager can not scan for wireless networks

The iwconfig shows that the wifi adapter is recognized and that the iwlwifi kernel module is ok.

The error message i see points to Policykit :

"Error checking authorization:
GDBus.Error.org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown:
The name org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1 was not provided by any .service files. "

I use slax-English-UK-7.0.5-i486.zip

With the following modules:

I had the same error after installing Chrome. Get rid of the Google Chrome module and re-start. This should do it.

Thanks, I was wondering why my wifi doesn't work too -- even after installing all available firmwares that I could get my hands on -- that I'd to resorted to Porteus V2.0 for daily use. Also, notice that the Restart option dissappears after installing Google Chrome.

@slaxuser Chrome is conflicting with polkit1 for some reason. I notified Tomas and he is aware of this issue. I am happy with Firefox at this moment. Just do no install Chrome for now.

yup, chrome hosed my installed also. I'm just lucky that I didnt start with chrome like usual so i figured it out.

It is a mystery for me why google chrome module should cause this. It is installed in /opt, there is no reason it should affect other things in Slax whatsoever.

Could that be rather caused by the chrome dependency (gconf) module?

Indeed it seems to be a bug in Chrome/Chromium

@tomas I would not have Chrome available at the store until we find the issue with it.

I finally found the problem in Firefox an extension (http://www.toptip.ca/2010/10/firefox-extension-google-dictionary-and.html)

Hi, any of you (without gpu) have trouble with momentary x-freezes. Seems cutting network access during freeze prolongs it. can't find any error mesg besides reference to gpu and or drm .
It happens on both intel graphic and ati. Worst on intel though!

nainstaloval jsem si slax 7, a byl jsem opravdu spokojen, nádherné prostředí s transparentností, mnoho nastavení a hlavně rychlost a svižnost i na horších hardwarech, proto bych se rád zeptal, jestli neplánujete možnost instalace slaxu fyzicky na harddisk počítače, boot by byl rychlejší a snadnější a slax by mohl s jeho výhodami dost konkurovat známému ubuntu, přizpůsobitelnost je opravdu dobrá, chci vás pochválit, opravdu skvělá práce

The fact is, Slax itself is already "installable", you can put it to hard drive the very same way like you put it on USB disk.

Hi Tomas, I have an Ethernet Atheros AR8161, no wifi, and Slax doesn't recognize it. I tried lost of commands but no success. I can post the exits of all I did, but I don't know if here is the right place to do it. Thanks
